A message from our President Rich Lewis:

Have a Happy New Year Spartans and friends,

On behalf of the MSUBA and the board directors, I just wanted to wish everyone a great and prosperous New Year as we approach 2011. Thanks to all Spartans and friends who have supported the MSUBA by becoming a member or attending our events across the country. For 2011 the MSUBA will continue grow with more events so stay tuned, please consider becoming a members as well as getting involved in a local chapter of the MSUBA no matter where you live. If there is no chapter in the city where you live be sure to get with other Spartans to start a chapter. Only 10 financial MSUBA members are needed to start a chapter. Our great organization can only continue to grow with the help and strength of our members in numbers. Take pride in knowing that the MSUBA is the largest black alumni organization in US and one of the few with a million dollar endowment that provides over 30 scholarships annually to deserving student.

MSUBA Purpose
The purpose of the Michigan State University Black Alumni ( MSUBA) is to support and promote the welfare and interests of Black alumni, students, faculty and staff of Michigan State University.

MSUBA Goals

Implement programs to enhance educational opportunities and the quality of life for Black alumni, students, faculty and staff at MSU.

Provide a framework for alumni, with interests common to the organization, to meet both formally and informally for educational, professional, and social purposes.

Advocate the need for MSU to continue an active program of affirmative action to ensure the involvement and participation of Black students, faculty and staff in all aspects of the university, at all levels.

Establish communication linkages between Black alumni, students, faculty and staff at MSU to maintain a common awareness of issues being addressed or to be addressed by the organization.

Mobilize resources to assist Black students in their matriculation at MSU.

Provide assistance in the recruitment and retention of Black students, faculty, and staff at MSU.

 

1. You Must Add Your First and Last Name and a Picture to Your Profile to be APPROVED. If a picture is not set up at that time you create an account, NING will not allow you access to edit until a photo has been added.BEWARE! 2. Profanity is prohibited and should not be used in profiles, comments, forums, blogs, or anywhere on the MSU Black Alumni Network.

3. PICTURES, VIDEOS AND SONGS: 20 Picture, 20 Song, and 10 Video Limit. Please use your best judgment and post photos that are in GOOD TASTE. You have the option of changing pics as often as you like. However, the limit is 20. ALL PHOTOS DEEMED INAPPROPRIATE WILL BE DELETED. To help minimize space please use "slide.com" to display your photos.

4. Any member may create a Forum, Group, Event or Blog. Please be mindful of content, and refrain from nudity, profanity, or topics that may be inappropriate for this Network. Check categories to make sure your Forum is in the right place. If you need a category created please contact me and I will create one for you.

5. Please note the "envelope" and "friends" to the right of the page. You have the capability to e-mail your friends privately and accept friend request :-)

6. If you experience any technical difficulties, please let me know ASAP so that I may contact NING to fix the problem. You can use the "Report an Issue" link on the bottom of the page. Thank you in advance for your cooperation!

7. If you experience any problems with another member of the network, please let me know ASAP so that I may take the appropriate steps to resolve the issue. Again, you can use the "Report an Issue" link on the bottom of the page. I hope none of you will ever have to use it :-)

Hello Fellow Spartans! Happy New Year!! Hope it has been a very blessed beginning thus far. Some of you may have noticed recent postings of past Spartans accomplishments in the community, business, arts & entertainment, etc. Well, I would like to make this a regular section on our main page. So if you know a Spartan doing extraordinary work or you are a Spartan embarking on extraordinary work (yes it is ok to toot your own horn here :o) then feel free to send me a message detailing the accomplishments so we can share and inspire other Spartans.

Keep your eyes peeled for another contest.....(if you have any ideas let me know).

Also, check out our bloggers!! Good for very intersting dialogue among your colleagues.
